socialhams wird ein Open Soucre Projekt

Ich bereite gerade den nächsten großen Schritt für unsere Community vor. Geplant ist das Grundsystem samt aller selbstgeschrieben Module im Quellcode zu veröffentlichen.

Die Weiterentwicklung des Grundsystems wird über einen sogenannten Fork gelöst. Das heißt wir bedienen uns an einer stabilen Version des CMS und pflegen im ersten Schritt alle nötigen Änderungen dort ein. Somit erhalten wir ein maßgeschneidertes Grundsystem das wir zukunftsgerichtet nach unseren Bedürfnissen weiterentwickeln können. Natürlich können und werden interessante Änderungen aus der Entwicklung des originalen CMS eingepflegt. Dies ist jedoch mit etwas erhöhtem Aufwand verbunden aber sicherlich sinnvoll.

Als Plattform für dieses Vorhaben dient ein Source Code Management System namens Indefero das an Google Code angelehnt ist. Das Grundsystem sowie sämtliche Module werden dort als separates Projekt angelegt und sind über Git-Repositories verwaltet. Somit erhalten wir die Möglichkeit die Entwicklung nachvollziehbar und flexibel zu gestalten.

Da neben den PHP-Scripts auch einige tieferliegende Programme zur Funktion von socialhams benötigt werden, werden diese natürlich auch veröffentlicht.

Ich erhoffe mir dadurch eine rege Entwicklergemeinde aufzubauen um socialhams noch besser auf die Bedürfnisse von uns Funkamateuren zuschneiden zu können.

socialhams goes open source

I am preparing the next big step for our community. My plan is to open source all of the basic system and to publish the source code to the self-written modules.

The further development of the basic system is achieved via a so-called fork. That means we use a stable version of the original CMS, and maintain all the necessary changes there. Thus we get a customized basic system that we can continue to develop based on our needs as we look forward. Of course there will be other interesting changes in the development of the original CMS that can also be added to our development base. This can be time consuming but is certainly useful.

This project is built on a source code management system called Indefero which functionality is based on Google Code. The basic system and all modules will be created there as a separate project and are managed via Git repositories. This gives us the ability to make development comprehensible and flexible.

In addition, some underlying programs that are not written in PHP are used on socialhams. So these will be published too.

I'm hoping to establish an active developer community to build a better socialhams for the needs of our hams.
